Learn more about Raise Your Hand

Our Reach

As of June 2023, 88 articles have been published with Raise Your Hand. The column proudly accounts for a diversity of student voices, representing 37 high schools from five islands: Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Lanaʻi, Maui, and Hawaiʻi Island.

During lockdown, student stories acted as the Star-Advertiser's driving interest. Articles "COVID-19 Effect in Teens: Increase in Depression Rates" and "Pro/Con: Students grade the school year - Online learning: pass or fail?" made the front page.

"When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful." - Malala Yousafzai
